After experiencing massive disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism in Europe recorded positive levels in 2024, exceeding pre-pandemic figures. However, despite proven resilience and a solid recovery, the tourism sector faces <strong>challenge<\/strong> important, such as extreme weather events, unbalanced development, economic and social pressures related to acceptance by local communities, increasing costs for businesses, tourists and locals, difficulties in recruiting labor and covering the staff shortage in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>These concerns call for a <strong>new European strategy for sustainable tourism<\/strong>. It will be aligned with the priorities and mandate of the European Commission, supporting the sustainability, competitiveness and innovation of the single market, highlighting the social and economic benefits of tourism and its connections with other sectors.
