Destination of the Year Gala 2025

Destination of the Year launches its 5th season and invites Romanians to nominate their favorite destinations.
In season 5, the public is invited to nominate their favorite destinations in the following categories:

  • Inspiring Cities – for municipalities that stand out through notoriety and investment in tourism;
  • Balneo-Climatic Resorts – resorts open throughout the year, of local and national interest;
  • Enchanted Lands – localities or regions up to 3,000 km² with special natural and historical value;
  • Fairytale villages – villages and communes that offer authentic experiences in the rural environment;
  • Fun and adventure – destinations that offer experiences for all ages, whether sporting or recreational;
  • Culture and education – museums, castles and other cultural attractions;

Nominations can be made between November 12 and December 5, 2024 on the platform www.destinatiaanului.ro, and the qualified destinations will be announced on December 17, 2024.
In the next stage, the finalists will be selected based on a set of well-defined criteria and will be publicly announced on January 25. In the last stage of the competition, the winning destinations will be chosen based on the score calculated on three levels:

  • the vote of the jury made up of over 150 specialists in the field (destination managers, tourism marketing experts, hoteliers, tourism influencers) · the public vote on the platform www.destinatiaanului.ro
  • the results of the largest study on the habits and attitudes of Romanian tourists, in the last ten years, representative at a national level.

The winners of the competition will be announced on April 8, during the Destination of the Year Gala, which will take place in Sibiu, the destination that won the Destination of the Year Grand Prize in 2024.
