On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Association of Tourism Teachers and Mentors "Edu4Tourism" in partnership with the Federation of the Hotel Industry of Romania and the Smart City Association Brașov, organizes the conference "Global Convergences: Tourism, Peace and Education for an Interconnected World". The event will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 10:00 to 15:30, at the Aro Palace Hotel, Brașov. This year's conference proposes to explore the theme "Tourism and Peace", in line with the annual theme of World Tourism Day. The emphasis is on recognizing tourism as an essential structural element in building and sustaining positive peace. In this context, tourism is seen not only as an economic activity, but also as a catalyst for intercultural understanding, dialogue and collaboration between nations. The conference will address how tourism can contribute to the sustainable development goals and to promoting a culture of peace, through education and sustainable practices. It also aims to discover the most effective methods of aligning study programs with the specific needs of the tourism and hospitality sector to ensure professional training that directly responds to the practical challenges of the field.

– Tourism – an important pillar of international peace and guarantor of the sustainability of the tourist destination;
– Professional training in tourism – initial certification and microcertification applied in the continuous training process;
– The role of competitions in promoting education for peace and tolerance (Worldskills Competition)
The new modern concepts recently introduced through the Methodology for the development and updating of professional qualifications approved by Order 6194/23.08.2024, such as partial qualification certificates through microcertification for partial qualifications, are particularly important for vocational education and lifelong learning.
