30th anniversary of the establishment of the first Romanian tourism organization: the Federation of the Hotel Industry of Romania (FIHR)

FIHR celebrated 30 years of activity in the Romanian hospitality industry on 20.02.2020

On February 20, 2020, the Romanian Hotel Industry Federation (FIHR) celebrated 30 years of activity, being the first organization in Romanian tourism established after 1989.

The anniversary event took place at the Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest Hotel, Le Diplomate lounge, in the presence of 180 guests from Bucharest and the entire country. The event brought together central and local officials, national and regional Romanian tourism organizations, hoteliers from Bucharest and the country, FIHR affiliated members, sponsors and partners.

Călin Ile – FIHR President officially opened the event: "Today we have the opportunity to see the true face of Romanian tourism, a confident, elegant face, one you can rely on. We are honored to be part of the hospitality industry, an industry of smiles, of happiness, an industry that together we make increasingly appreciated and more efficient."

The video message of the President of HOTREC (Confederation of National Associations of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Cafés and similar establishments in the European Union) - Jens Zimmer Christensen was broadcast at the event, as his personal presence was not possible on February 20. Ludovic Orban - Prime Minister of Romania, Răzvan Pîrjol - Secretary of State for Tourism, Iuliana Tasie - General Manager of Ana Hotels Europa Eforie Nord, Steven van Groningen - President of the Concordia Employers' Confederation and Ray Iunius - CEO of Winsedswiss Education Group and professor at the University of Lausanne took the stage.

Plaques of gratitude for supporting the first Romanian tourism organization were awarded to the founding members and former FIHR Presidents present at the event: Paul Mărășoiu - FIHR Founder, Adrian Zaharia - FIHR Founder, George Turnă - FIHR Founder, Mihail Acatrinei - FIHR Founder & Treasurer, Radu Enache - FIHR Former President and Mihai Rânjită - FIHR Founder and Former Secretary General.

For 3 decades, FIHR has represented the hotel industry in Romania!

The FIHR is the first employers' organization in Romanian tourism and the most representative in the hotel industry, by turnover and number of employees, bringing together 4 of the top 5 hotel companies in Romania by turnover, being present nationally in 30 cities and accumulating 9,686 rooms in member hotels.

FIHR represents the interests of hoteliers in Romania and has had, since its establishment in 1990, a permanent dialogue with the central public authorities, obtaining important facilities for the Romanian hospitality industry.

"We promote Romanian tourism and actively participate in the development of the industry and professional education through strategic partnerships at national and international level. We are an honest partner, with healthy values, and who wants to find the right solutions for the present and future of Romanian tourism through dialogue," said Otilia Demian - FIHR Secretary General.

FIHR is affiliated with the Concordia Employers' Confederation, a representative employers' confederation for the Romanian business environment, bringing together the strongest sectoral federations in the Romanian economy and comprising 7 of the top 10 companies by number of employees and turnover. Concordia is the only Romanian employers' confederation affiliated with the International Organization of Employers and BusinessEurope.
